Press kit: A Curse from Me

Description

A dark, fun website featuring a melting countdown clock: cast a curse, send the link, cast a counter-curse—completely without servers, accounts, or ads.

"Ein Fluch von mir" (A Curse from Me) is a fun little site centered around a dark, melting countdown clock. You select a date and an occasion; the clock counts down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds while its face slowly drips away. You share the finished curse via a link; anyone who opens it immediately sees the same clock and can cast a counter-curse with a single click.

Features include four types of curses, group curses, and recurring curses; three ways to break the curse (Seal Ritual, Hands Ritual, Riddle); certificates with QR codes; an MP4 summoning video; calendar integration; an embeddable widget; and a "More Nonsense" section featuring an oracle, horoscope, wheel of fortune, and "curse weather." The site supports both German and English and can be installed as an app.

Technically, it is built entirely using HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript—no frameworks or backends involved: the curse data is embedded in the link, the clock is a custom SVG, audio is handled via the Web Audio API, and certificates and videos are rendered on an HTML5 canvas. It is both a learning exercise and a fun project.
